As I said, they make you greedy first and then you will do whatever they ask to release the money.

Why would someone do this, if they are not benefitting from it? I was not asked for my social or any bank information…

They will ask you after you reply that email, there’s not just one outfit sending these emails – there are dozens or hundreds. They buy, sell and trade their email lists. A response can be a good thing for them, as it confirms that your email is valid.
You can try if you want to know how they respond, but never send them money
